I decided to create a promo/hype video for RWU athletics to inspire and “pump up” current athletes and current students to attract students to future RWU sporting events to develop a stronger sense of school spirit. I also wanted to attract and catch the eye of future students and student athletes.  I used an intense tone & manner throughout the video to display the high level of intensity and dedication of our athletics.
One role I fulfilled during my internship at RWU was game day media blasts. Below are a few different samples that were posted to our social media platforms in an effort to increase fan attendance in the stands and on-line. I also wanted to attract large crowds on certain game days, so I would dedicate a theme on these specific game dates. For example, below is a “White Out” basketball game example. Other themed games I created were “Calling All Hawks” and “Youth Day.”

Despite game day graphics, I also created info-graphics for mid-season statistics. This allowed viewers to read and understand the individual stats at a quick glance.
This year holding a position in the athletic department I wanted to do something different around the holidays. I wanted to create a fun holiday video that spoke about the Hawk athletes around the holiday break. I wrote copy based off  “Twas the Night Before Christmas” but altered it “Twas the Night Before Break.”
In addition to this copy, I wrote game recaps and other stories when news came through the office for the Hawks official website. Bellow is a sample of a story I wrote based off the women’s soccer team championship win.  I tried to tell a story through my writing, as if the reader was actually there. I had to keep the reader interested by attempting to transfer the words into a play by play in their head.

"Women's Soccer Back On Top of CCC"
BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Soccer returned to the top of the Commonwealth Coast Conference as the Hawks claimed the CCC title with a 1-0 win over Gordon College Saturday afternoon.

The second-seeded Hawks were given the opportunity to host the CCC Championship to face the number four seed, Gordon College who knocked Endicott College this past Wednesday.

The Hawks and the Fighting Scots have history regarding the playoff season. Last season, the teams met at Bayside Field for the CCC Quarterfinal matchup. The top-seeded Hawks were upset by the eighth-seeded Fighting Scots by a 2-1 margin. Roger Williams had payback on its mind for the championship today.

The Hawks started off the half aggressive, controlling the ball primarily on the offensive side. The Scots played strong defense not letting RWU enter the box easily. The Scots' Lexi Potter broke away in the eighth minute and got a shot off, aiming to the lower right corner of the goal. Senior Natalie O'Donovan (Quincy, Mass.) dove to stop the shot from putting the Hawks behind.

After O'Donovan's save, minutes of play resulted into a midfield game with endless blocks and attempted breakaways. In the 29th minute sophomore Ashton Barkey (Parker, Colo.) had a 1v1 on O'Donovan until senior Carly Quinn (Danielson, Conn.) came up behind her to block the shot and keep the Hawks in the game.

To start off the second half senior Samantha Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) and sophomore Alli Santacroce (Burlington, Conn.) got two shots off from a corner kick launched in by senior Kasey Provost (Peabody, Mass.). Both shots were saved by sophomore Kali Denty (Marshfield, Mass.) to keep the score 0-0.

Minutes after, Santacroce took a free kick and put it past Denty to put the Hawks ahead 1-0 in the 54th minute. In the 78th minute both teams got aggressive concluding in shots on both end. A shot from senior Paige Byrne (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and on the other end of the field an attempt from Barkley. Intensity grew as both teams grew hungry for the win.

In the 84th minute, Barkley took the ball down the left side of the box looking for an opportunity to put the Scots on the board. O'Donovan embraced the ball on a diving save to keep her game a shutout. That would be the last favorable opportunity for Gordon to score. As the clock struck 00:00, the final score read 1-0 in Roger Williams' favor.

O'Donovan logged the clean sheet in the Hawks favor by saving a total of seven shots. Denty finished five stops for Gordon.

Gordon closes out the year at 11-5-2. Roger Williams (14-7-2) team will move on to the NCAA Women's Soccer Division III tournament next week. On Monday, November 6th the bracket of the tournament will be released.
